Trendy Styles for 2014:: Camo Print and Lace with Combat Boots

I'm feeling so flirty today!
That is; I'm flirting with camo print and lace in a fashion look today! Camo print pieces of clothing and accessories seem to be the trendy item for 2014.

Below I wanted to illustrate how I would wear camo print and lace together. What a fashion statement! Read more below the pic...

camo print and lace

Today's look is "Camo Inspired!". I say this phrase because of the camo print pieces and lace inspired pieces such as the one illustrated in the fashion collage.

AE Cropped Camo Print Jacket; Camo print gives a rugged, edgy, earthy atmosphere to a fashion look. I love the look and feel of this cropped camo jacket. Starting with a fitted and cropped silhouette. It accents a woman's figure perfectly. It would look awesome over a pair of skinny jeans or skirt. But a dress is best.

A Lace Mission Beach dress; I love lace; so feminine, and sweet. But this little lace dress says it all. A lovely corset-style with all-over-floral lace detailing. The fitted bodice and soft smocked back is the clincher with this lace dress.

Now let's combine the two. Camo print and lace together. What do you think?

I'm thinking on staying with the rugged, edgy look. I chose a pair of "Steve Madden Troopa combat boots". I know everyone is not a fan of combat boots, you could choose a pair of pumps or stilettos to go with this fashion look and it would still look awesome.

I went with a few more pieces to create more of an effect in this fashion look. A "Betty Johnson Dome Bag" and a few vintage looking pieces of jewelry ... So what do you think now? Would love to hear your thoughts on this fashion look?

Celebrity Street Styles of 2014:: Rihanna Street Style

Crazy how the days go by! So swiftly with time ...It's Wednesday again!

Celebrity Street Styles of 2014 ...As you all know me all to well I follow Rihanna and her choices in street clothing or styles she wears on a daily basis.

rihanna celebritity street style

One particular favorite of hers; the trendy camo prints that are being design and created by popular fashion brands from cargo pants, to cropped denim jackets, to skirts and dresses.

So today; I created a fashion collage illustrating a fashion street style I believe Rihanna would probably wear.

We've seen Rihanna in her edgy "cropped leather biker jackets", and River Island high stiletto heels.

But add a "strappy faux leather bustier" and a pair of "belted camo cargo shorts" and there you have it. Now I can imagine one more piece to created a little attitude. A baseball cap; put on backwards. Now that is Rihanna ...

What do you think? She is always wear a baseball cap ... for her it totally works for a Celebrity Street Style.

The ERA of Haute Couture:: A Piece of High Fashion History

Living in an ERA of Fashion? Today I wanted to focus on a little history! ...Where does fashion come from? I'm talking "haute couture (french)" fashion and design.

So; I looked up my personal friend Kelvin Baines to get some vintage fashion images ... Kelvin is the founder & owner of the online "Vintage Printing Shop".

Where he uses a technique to scan images from "rare" books dated in history of the 1860's and forward to form a "Lithograph or Print" of such history and thus imprint it on to images that can be framed, or placement onto mugs or postcards.

The image below is an example;

high dress making
First; let's find a good definition of "haute couture (french). The term "haute couture" wasn't established until 1945.

But the meaning behind "haute couture (french)" was simply this.

A piece of clothing or apparel THAT was constructed by hand without the use of sewing machine.

Can you imagine? The grueling hours; and let's not forget your poor fingers using a sewing needle... OH MY GOODNESS!

I have a hard time just getting a piece of thread through that tiny hole on the sewing needle; let alone hours and hours of sewing in such a manner...

That's what you call patience!

haute couture french
Fashion houses of London, Paris could not claim they were unless they followed a certain criteria.

This "french" criteria of  "high sewing" or "high dressmaking" or "high fashion" had to be followed to the letter.

The members of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture ( French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear of Couturiers and Fashion Designers) followed it meticulously.

The first rule; design made to order clothing for private clients with one or more custom fittings.

Second Rule: own a workshop in London, Paris that employs 15 or more staff members full-time.

Interested in getting your hands on a "piece of fashion history" to frame on your wall in your fashion can find these Lithograph prints the footnote of this article we have info how you can reach Kelvin Baines for his vintage fashion prints.

high fashion
Third Rule; must employ twenty, full-time technical people in at least one (workshop).

Fourth Rule; (most important) must present a collection of at least 50 original fashion designs to the public (day & evening garments) in January and July of each consecutive year.

Whoa; how do you like those kind rules?  No wonder they call it "haute couture (french).

High Standards is what I call it.

But remember the "haute couture" garment is often made for a client, specifically tailored to each clients measurements and body figure.

The images you see in this article are perfect for bringing a piece of history into your fashion boutique...Vintage Fashion Prints are exclusive upon demand! You can reach Kelvin for one or more of these prints at his email address;

high sewing garments

When you consider the amount of time, money, and skill that has been used to create this unique clothing piece, haute couture garments are also described as having no price tag - so the budget is not relevant factor here.

I love looking at the images of heirloom haute couture clothing pieces ... There are still fashion houses today in Paris that still uphold the standards of Chambre syndicale de la haute couture ( French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear of Couturiers and Fashion Designers).

Like the Carrousel du Louvre is a favorite Paris shopping center among locals and visitors alike.

Well I hope you enjoyed our fashion history lesson today; I sure did! I totally enjoyed doing the research for "haute couture (french)".

High Street Style:: Blue Elegance in Blossoming Blue Pansies

Creating a high street style starts with culture.
A culture that embraces detailing, custom fitting, and maybe a little on the high-end side of the pocket book.

Fashion designer ... Prabal Gurung does exactly this in  "The Printed Tiered Organza Dress" illustrated in the fashion collage. Read more below ...

Delicate blue pansies literally blossoming across the textured ruffles of this dress. Prabal wanted to feature a raw-edge print tier effect when it came to sketching this design. It definitely did that ...

The optical aspect. Sheer Blue Elegance.

First Prabal, started with a custom fitted bustier bodice; thus enticing the tiers of the organza ruffles which flatters the frothy skirt in a structural form.

To further accent upon this high street style, I wanted to add a little glimmer in a "Vince Camuto Pyramid Stud Necklace". Silver seems to highlight the blue pansies quite nicely.

A pair of sleek, Navy, satin "Tabitha Simmons Josephina Strappy Satin Pumps" will continue the high street style look more ...

Now I need to add a accessory ... a "Mark Cross Grace Studded Leather Box Bag" will add the final touch to this blue elegance high street style.

Hope you enjoyed my personal styling tips today...I look forward to hearing your comments too...So drop me a line would love to hear from you!

Pretty Women Wonder Where My Secret Lies - Maya Angelou

"Empowering Women**
“Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.”

Celebrity Street Style of 2014:: Taylor Swift Street Style

Happy Wednesday My Lovelies....

Celebrity Street Styles of 2014...One celebrity I'm fascinated with is "Taylor Swift". Do you know she became the youngest songwriter ever hired by Sony/ATV Music Publishing?...Read more below the image...

taylor swift street style

At the young age of 14 year old; Taylor moved to Nashville, TN from a quaint little town out of Pennsylvania. She was hell-bent on being the next American singer/song writer as a country music star. I would say she has gone above and beyond her own expectations.

So I'm contributing this fashion collage to her. I love her sweet, simple celebrity street style. In the fashion collage; I wanted to create a personal street style I thought she would look awesome in.

So let's get started. With Taylor's long, lean frame I chose a Topshop sequin bustier. Then a pleated, polka dot, and satin skirt from fashion designer "Red Valentino".

Being were working with the soft color tones of tulle and pink,I chose a little leather tote bag from Victoria Beckham.

Now give the whole celebrity street style some POP. A pair of Rachel Roy heels in African jewel pink color tone and some gold tone jewelry with a Banana Republic "Poppy Statement Necklace" and Gold Hammered Drop Earrings.

I could add more; but Taylor's style is simple. Is this a style you would wear? Let me know; I would love to know you thoughts on this look.
